- Die InDesign Markup Language wurde von Adobe Systems zur CS4 Version eingeführt. Das Dateiformat hat zwei Aufgaben: Auf der einen Seite soll es die Kompatibilität zwischen den Versionen ab der CS4 Version gewährleisten. Die viel wichtigere Aufgabe: IDML soll es ermöglichen, InDesign Dokumente außerhalb von InDesign lesen und schreiben zu können. IDML bietet somit neue Möglichkeiten, um Automatisierungen außerhalb von InDesign in Abläufe zu integrieren und somit Ressourcen zu sparen. In dieser Arbeit wird die aktuelle Marktsituation durch eine empirische Datenerhebung dargestellt und bewertet, um möglichst nah am Puls der Zeit zu sein. Die technische Untersuchung stellt die beiden Publishing-Konzepte Desktop Publishing und Database-Publishing gegenüber. Dabei wurde IDML für das Database-Publishing eingesetzt um zeigen zu können welche Vorteile IDML mit sich bringt. Anhand der Umfrage wird deutlich, dass IDML am Markt noch nicht sehr präsent ist und daher das Potenzial noch nicht ausgeschöpft ist. Diese Arbeit soll dazu motivieren IDML fu?r Automatisierungen einzusetzten.
