What is the maximum distance supported by the ATEN CE700A Console Extender?

The ATEN CE700A Console Extender supports a maximum distance of up to 500 feet using CAT5 cables. This significant distance allows users to position their computers away from the monitor and keyboard without sacrificing performance or quality. Ideal for network setups, industrial environments, or remote office situations, this extender can efficiently connect workstations located distantly, ensuring that you maintain control and access to your systems without being limited by physical proximity.

What types of devices are compatible with the ATEN CE700A?

The ATEN CE700A is compatible with various USB-enabled devices, including computers, servers, and KVM switches that utilize VGA output. Whether you are using it for a home office setup, a corporate server room, or a control room where video output is essential, this extender makes it convenient to manage multiple systems without needing to be physically near each unit. This versatility allows for better organization and less clutter in your workspace.

Does the ATEN CE700A support audio transmission?

No, the ATEN CE700A does not support audio transmission; it focuses solely on USB and VGA signals. This design prioritizes visual data transfer efficiency up to a resolution of 1600x1200. For users whose setups require audio solutions, employing separate audio extension devices or integrating speakers with your system will ensure complete functionality. This makes it particularly beneficial in applications like visual monitoring where sound is not a critical component.

How does the built-in ESD protection work?

The built-in ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) protection in the ATEN CE700A safeguards your devices against voltage spikes that can result in equipment damage. This feature is critical in environments where static electricity build-up is common, such as in server rooms or during dry weather conditions. By ensuring that your setup is protected, you can maintain the longevity and reliability of both your extender and connected devices, so you can focus on your tasks without worrying about potential electronic failures.

What is included in the ATEN CE700A package?

The ATEN CE700A package includes two power adapters (one for the local unit and one for the remote unit) and KVM cables. This completeness allows for immediate setup without the need for additional purchasing of essential accessories, providing users a seamless experience. If you need to set up a remote workstation quickly, having all necessary components included saves time and minimizes setup difficulties, making it suitable for both home office users and professional environments.

Can I use the ATEN CE700A with a touchscreen monitor?

The ATEN CE700A is primarily designed for connecting traditional VGA monitors and may not support the full functionality of touchscreen monitors. If you are using a touchscreen device, it would be best to verify compatibility with the manufacturer or consider alternate extenders designed specifically for touchscreen functionality. Generally, for regular display purposes, this extender performs well, ensuring a responsive visual experience for standard monitor setups.

Is the ATEN CE700A easy to install?

Yes, the ATEN CE700A is designed for straightforward installation. Simply connect the local unit to your computer and the remote unit to your monitor and keyboard using the provided KVM cables. No specialized technical skills are needed, making it a user-friendly option for both home and business environments. The plug-and-play functionality is advantageous, helping users get their setup running in no time, even without advanced technical knowledge.

How does the ATEN CE700A perform in terms of video quality?

The ATEN CE700A maintains excellent video quality with a maximum resolution of 1600x1200 at 60Hz. It ensures that there is minimal lag or distortion, allowing for clear and sharp images over long distances. This performance makes it suitable for high-definition applications in fields like design work, video editing, or monitoring systems, providing a seamless visual experience even from distances of up to 500 feet.

What installation environment is best suited for the ATEN CE700A?

The ATEN CE700A is ideal for environments where remote access and control are needed, such as offices, server rooms, and industrial facilities. Its long-distance capability combined with ESD protection makes it perfect for setups where equipment is located far from the user. This is particularly useful in security scenarios where monitoring stations are placed in secure locations, allowing operators to control systems effectively while remaining at a safe distance.
